Room 6 (New Entrant and Year 1) Class Teacher
Advanced Diploma of Teaching
I am passionate about teaching and learning. I have had many years experience teaching in kindergarten and in primary schools. I believe in establishing strong relationships with both children and their families. I like to set up my classroom so that children can actively take responsibility for their own learning. Children have the opportunity to develop their own special talents and interests within my classroom. The main curriculum areas in our new entrant class are reading, writing, mathematics and inquiry learning.

I am a bubbly, energetic teacher who is excited and passionate about teaching and learning. I believe in scaffolding students so that they can achieve small steps in order to achieve great educational success. I try my best to provide real life learning opportunities and contexts for my students to make this learning meaningful. Whilst I place great importance on independent learning, I also promote group work to give students responsibility and enable them to recognise importance of working as part of a team.

Hello, my name is Olivia Andrew and I’m thrilled to be your child’s teacher this year. This will be my third year teaching at Rukuhia School. I have recently completed my Bachelor of Health, Sport and Human Performance Science, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Primary Teaching. During my sports degree, I focused a lot on Coaching and Hauora (well-being). Students’ well-being is something that I place a huge importance on. In my spare time I enjoy being active. I am involved in social touch and netball teams. Through my life experiences, I have developed a desire to be a teacher and how to adapt learning for all so that everyone has the opportunity for success, and also understand success looks different for everyone.
Room 3, Year 4 Class Teacher; SENCO
Bachelor of Teaching (Primary)
I like to create an environment in my classroom where students feel confident to give things a go. Our motto is 'I can'. Reading, Writing and Maths are the key focus in our year 3 class but we still like to have fun and find out about things in the world around us. We are learning how to become more independent with our work and we are learning about the Key Competencies so that we can be better learners and valuable members of the Rukuhia School community.

I believe a positive and healthy mindset can move mountains, and that’s exactly what I want for my learners. Room 5 is a classroom that is full of passion, enthusiasm, excitement, positivity, and understanding of each others values and learning needs. It is a place much greater than the sum of its parts, it’s a feeling that being part of the classroom will transcend boundaries and lift you to new levels of success.
It is my job to provide and maintain an atmosphere in which each child feels secure, and have the opportunity to develop mentally, physically, socially, emotionally and intellectually.
I strive to produce and deliver a stimulating classroom programme which encourages students to find passion and become successful independent lifelong learners.
